During the first quarter of the year, cybercriminals carried out significantly fewer cyberattacks against businesses than last year. Researchers discuss the cumulative effects of faulty police operations targeting reputed gangs…

Last year, the number of ransomware attacks exploded. Malwarebytes researchers recorded a 68% increase in the number of offensives aimed at extorting money in exchange for stolen data. Chainalysis experts, specializing in the study and monitoring of blockchain, agree and reveal that the amount paid by victims has exceeded a billion dollars in one year. That’s almost double the $567 million extorted a year earlier.

“2023 marks a major comeback for ransomware, with record payouts and a substantial increase in the scope and complexity of attacks”explains Chainalysis.

To explain this increase in attacks, MalwareBytes pointed the finger “the explosion of AI”, which allows budding cybercriminals to get started without the slightest computer knowledge, and the numerous operations carried out by Lockbit. The Russian gang is also responsible for the largest known ransom demand to date. The hackers demanded $80 million from Royal Mail in exchange for the sequestered data.

For its part, Chainalysis highlighted the MOVEit hack, one of the most important hacks of 2023. This immense data leak was the source of a multitude of attacks. Finally, TrendMicro identifies a change in the strategy of cybercriminals. For their profits, they have mainly attacked small businesses, which are less well protected, to the detriment of large companies, whose security mechanisms are more sophisticated.

A gradual decline in ransomware attacks

During the first quarter of 2024, the trend finally reversed. CyberInt experts noted a 22% drop in ransomware attacks in one quarter. Researchers recorded only 1,048 hacks in the just-concluded period. For WatchGuard, the situation began to change in the last three months of 2023 with a 20% drop in identified attacks compared to the previous quarter.

The counterattack of the police

Behind this sudden drop in the number of cyberattacks, we first find the sustained efforts of law enforcement, says Watchgard. The authorities have carried out several large-scale operations against groups specializing in extortion. Let us first mention Operation Cronos carried out by the FBI with the cooperation of 11 different countries. This operation dealt a major blow to Lockbit, one of the most prolific gangs in the world. Deprived of part of its servers, the gang was forced to relaunch a new platform to publish its data leaks on the dark web.

Unfortunately for Lockbit, reputational damage is harder to reverse than IT damage. Police attack on Lockbit indeed removed some of the subscribers ransomware. Like most criminal groups, Lockbit offers its extortion software through a subscription. This approach allows the gang to diversify its sources of income.

Scalded by the FBI attack, budding hackers prefer to distance themselves from Lockbit’s services, at least temporarily. Affiliates likely fear that authorities, who have Lockbit’s decryption keys, will thwart Lockbit 3.0 ransomware attacks. Unsurprisingly, the Lockbit debacle was therefore accompanied by a sharp drop in the number of attacks. Ransomware had in fact established itself as the most prolific ransomware in the world, it held 25% of the digital extortion market share.

A few weeks earlier, the police also attacked to the BlackCat hackers, another major gang specializing in ransomware. Last December, the FBI and police forces in several countries seized the dark web site from ALPHV, aka BlackCat. Authorities have got their hands on the decryption keys for the ransomware. With these keys, the FBI was able to help more than 500 BlackCat victims. They were not forced to pay the ransom to regain access to their data.

Considerably weakened, the gang was forced to keep a low profile. In the first quarter of 2024, BlackCat orchestrated only 51 ransomware attacks, compared to 109 in the last three months of 2023. Again, this policing operation contributed to the decline in ransomware attacks worldwide. The latest news is that the gang faked his death in order to avoid further FBI investigations. At the end of 2023, BlackCat still accounted for 8.1% of ransomware cyberattacks worldwide, according to TrendMicro.

“Since 2022, LockBit and BlackCat have consistently ranked among the ransomware providers with the highest number of detections”summarizes TrendMicro.

Let us also cite a police operation targeting a gang of Ukrainian hackers in December. Europol managed to put an end to the activities of cybercriminals after two years of investigation. The hackers, arrested in the wake of the operation, are suspected of having deployed malware on more than 250 computer servers spread across 71 countries. Before their arrest, the hackers extorted hundreds of millions of euros from companies.

Victims refusing to pay the ransom

At the same time, cybercriminals are finding it increasingly difficult to convince their victims to pay a ransom, explains CyberInt. According to a Coveware report, less than 30% of victims still agree to pay the ransom, compared to 85% in 2019. This is a historic drop.

Since last year, a growing share of companies hacked firmly refuse to negotiate with cybercriminals. These companies believe that paying a ransom could harm their image. They therefore prefer that the stolen data be disclosed by the hackers. Coverware also cites “better preparedness by organizations” and a lack of trust in cybercriminals’ promises. Companies realized that hackers were free to collect the ransom while knowing the data, or by returning to attack a few years later. Faced with increasingly recalcitrant companies, hackers sometimes consider that ransomware attacks are no longer lucrative enough.

This is why some gangs try to beef up their extortion tactics. Cybercriminals go so far as to threaten people, including cancer patients, to obtain a ransom. They also no longer hesitate to publish very sensitive data to try to collect a ransom. Furthermore, some hackers also threaten American companies with reporting them to the authorities. Companies based in the United States have four working days to notify the authorities of an attack. Aware of the legislation, cybercriminals threaten to disclose the information to American regulatory bodies once this deadline has passed.

New gangs in ambush

Despite the drop in offensives, we must not let our guard down too quickly, WatchGuard warns. In its report, the company explains that it expects ransomware affected by police investigations to make a comeback. We have already noticed an increase in copies of Lockbit in recent months, in the wake of the dismantling of part of the gang’s infrastructure.

We must also expect new gangs to appear to take the place of the entities currently on the sidelines. According to CyberInt, groups like RansomHub, Mogilevich, Trisec or Slug will end up establishing themselves as leading players alongside Lockbit or BlackCat. This emergence of “ambitious new groups looking to make their mark on the ransomware industry” is a “warning for businesses around the world”.

The latest action cam to date in the GoPro catalog, the Hero 12 Black is the most advanced reference on the market at the time of writing these lines. To film your vacations or your sporting exploits, there’s nothing better thanks to its stunning video quality and its equally impressive stabilization. This Sunday only, the GoPro Hero 12 Black is available for 329.99 euros instead of 449.99 euros at Rakuten.

It was only a few months ago that GoPro launched the 12th generation of its famous action cam, the GoPro Hero 12 Black, which is a direct competitor to the DJI Osmo Action 4. This new iteration marks a smooth evolution with, among other things, better autonomy , the arrival of HDR in video or even the Bluetooth connection with a pair of wireless headphones. This Sunday only, the GoPro Hero 12 Black drops to its lowest price at Rakuten and costs 120 euros less than when it launched.

The GoPro Hero 12 Black in brief

  • Remarkable image quality
  • Excellent stabilization, once again
  • Improved autonomy

Instead of the usual 449.99 euros, the GoPro Hero 12 Black is now available on sale at 329.99 euros at Rakuten with the promo code RAKUTEN20. Attention ! This code is valid this Sunday only.

If, subsequently, the offer mentioned in this article is no longer available, please take a look below to find other promotions relating to the GoPro Hero 12 Black. The table updates automatically.

GoPro Hero 12 Black at the best price?

A GoPro that excels in continuity

Like the Hero 11 Black and the Hero 10 Black before it, the GoPro Hero 12 Black does not bring any aesthetic changes, we do not change a formula that wins with the American manufacturer. It’s especially practical for regulars of the brand who don’t have to get used to a new action cam again. Here we have the same dimensions and the same weight as before, not to mention the same screens at the front and rear as well as the same traps in the same locations. The speckled coating is the only change here.

Another little new feature, which is very practical: a new screw thread, in addition to the two usual GoPro mounting rods, which allows you to quickly and easily screw the action cam to photo accessories without using the mountings. That’s it for the design changes. As for the interface, it is still intuitive, easy to use, the one dedicated to video settings has even benefited from a redesign to improve the user experience.

Still impressive video quality and stabilization

In terms of image quality, GoPro action cameras are simply the best on the market and this twelfth iteration only confirms it once again. The GoPro Hero 12 Black is capable of filming in 5.3K 60 fps definition, 4K 120 fps and 2.7K 240 fps and continues to perform well when the right lighting conditions are met. We mentioned above the arrival of HDR in video but it turns out to be less convincing than we hoped.

In terms of stabilization, the GoPro Hero 12 Black lives up to its predecessors. More precisely, the basic stabilization mode is so impressive that the new HyperSmooth 6.0 mode is not really useful. Other modes are included such as Time Lapse, Night Lapse, Time Warp and even a Light Painting mode which adds an additional touch of creativity to video production. Finally, in terms of autonomy, the GoPro Hero 12 Black lasts 72 minutes in 5.6K and 149 minutes in 1080p, the duration is doubled in certain modes compared to the Hero 11 Black.

four questions about the “quiet cut”, silent dismissal https://playeto.com/four-questions-about-the-quiet-cut-silent-dismissal/ https://playeto.com/four-questions-about-the-quiet-cut-silent-dismissal/#respond Sun, 14 Apr 2024 22:00:38 +0000 https://playeto.com/four-questions-about-the-quiet-cut-silent-dismissal/

Push for resignation rather than dismissing an employee? This practice is called “quiet cut” among the Anglo-Saxons and can be translated as “silent dismissal”. It is the opposite of “quiet quitting”. According to an American study carried out in March by the job search site Monster (in English), 77% of workers involved have witnessed “quiet cutting” within their company, and 58% say they have been affected by this process.

The “quiet cut” also exists in France, employees have experienced it and employers have been responsible for it, confirm respectively Nina Tahrouni, who ensures respect for employees’ rights, and Cyrille Catoire, lawyer used to defending companies . , including some who have resorted to this type of practice.

1 The “quiet cut”, a new phenomenon?

In reality, this new Anglo-Saxon terminology applies to “a phenomenon that has always existed in the world of work”underlines Nina Tahrouni, doctor of law, specialist in psychosocial risks and founder of the firm Global Impact. “It’s a practice that clearly exists and is rather in the minority”, specifies Cyrille Catoire, lawyer specializing in social law. For him, certain sectors are more concerned than others “like the construction sector, or that of event communication”high performance.

“The most emblematic example is that of France Télécom, recalls Nina Tahrouni, which went from the status of a public company to that of a private company and which had 22 000 the officials she wanted to get rid of. Institutional harassment was even recognized and the aim was to force these workers to leave the company.”

2 What does it consist on ?

Pushing employees to resign to avoid the cost of dismissal takes different forms: “Putting aside, removing functions, removing tasks, lack of recognition”, listed Nina Tahrouni. The employer can use unfair methods like “refusal of increase, refusal of bonus payment, sidelining”completes Cyrille Catoire. “The idea is to demotivate the employee to push him to the limit, so that he ends up leaving on his own”, he emphasizes. In the most serious cases, the “quiet cut” can lead to moral harassment,”which the employee can then invoke before the industrial tribunal”, underlines the lawyer.

“It’s super perverse for the employees who find themselves faced with this situation.”

Cyrille Catoire, lawyer

at franceinfo

Thus, Cyrille Cotoire recounts the case of an employee in the pharmaceutical sector who was ordered to give work overnight : “He stayed at home for a year doing nothing. And the idea was to completely closet him, until he ended up leaving on his own. He ended up resigning before attacking then to the industrial tribunal”, reports the lawyer.

“Silent cutting” can affect all workers. “Both executives and non-executives are affected by this type of practice”, confirms Cyrille Catoire. Two types of profiles stand out, according to Nina Tahrouni : “There are either people who do not know their rights, who are easy to impress and oust, or people who have very long seniority and who would cost too much to dismiss.”

3 What do employers stand to gain (and lose)? ?

When she wants to separate from an employee, a company “wonders how to terminate his employment contract and above all how much it will cost him”, details Cyrille Catoire. A dismissal involves finding a valid reason and paying compensation, “a company may find it too expensive and turn to an alternative : pushing the person to resign will not cost them anything.

This is what escaped the employee of a start-up that Nina Tahrouni got out of trouble: “Her employer ended up telling her that he wanted to part ways with her, but that it would cost her too much for the license, and therefore it would be better if she resigned. On my advice, she wrote to her employer to denounce her unfair maneuvers and citing the articles of the Labor Code corresponding to the employer’s obligations in terms of health and safety at work. He was afraid that things would go much further, even to court, and finally accepted a conventional termination with compensation of three months’ salary, which was quite significant in view of what she was initially entitled to.says the lawyer.

Cyrille Catoire emphasizes that by acting in this way, companies take risks, because “to obtain someone’s resignation, they adopt inappropriate behavior which can turn against them”. “Contrary to what they think, this rarely allows them to save money. In the end, this rather translates into a risk of litigation which escapes them”concludes the lawyer.

4 What can an employee do if they feel targeted?

Employers rely on the ignorance of their employees, regrets Nina Tahrouni. The psychosocial risks specialist reports the case of young employees from whom a catering company wanted to separate: “A young woman was intimidated by the human resources department, who forced her to sign a resignation. As for the others, notably an employee who called on me, they managed to obtain a conventional termination”. For her, “As soon as employees start arguing by citing their rights or articles of the Labor Code, employers realize that they are not that ignorant. They panic and are more open to discussion.”

The lawyer advises employees who feel pushed towards silent dismissal to seek support : by the CSE, the Economic and Social Committee, the unions, when there are any, but also by the labor inspectorate or even by a lawyer specializing in labor law. Because negotiating a conventional termination appears to be a better alternative. “It is better to take the lead rather than endure these actions for months, or even longer, and ultimately suffer a deterioration in your physical and mental health,” confirms Nina Tahrouni.

“When the tide turns for employees, it is better to leave as quickly as possible in the best conditions, but not at any price. I never recommend resigning for example. But you should not hang on either at the risk of seeing his mental health deteriorate.”

Nina Tahrouni, lawyer, specialist in psychosocial risks

at franceinfo

The company’s maneuvers could possibly result in a form of moral harassment. In these most serious cases, the employee can file a complaint with the industrial tribunal, where the statistics are very much in favor of employees. “There are sometimes unscrupulous company policies that want to save every penny, regret Nina Tahrouni who enjoins them : “Give people what they deserve, or what the law and the law give them, and just let them go.”

Push for resignation rather than dismissal: in France also the “quiet cut” exists. Report by Camille Laurent

🎞️Tourism, plane ticket prices, communication on the Guadeloupe destination: “We must persevere!” says the president of the CCI IG https://playeto.com/%f0%9f%8e%9e%ef%b8%8ftourism-plane-ticket-prices-communication-on-the-guadeloupe-destination-we-must-persevere-says-the-president-of-the-cci-ig/ https://playeto.com/%f0%9f%8e%9e%ef%b8%8ftourism-plane-ticket-prices-communication-on-the-guadeloupe-destination-we-must-persevere-says-the-president-of-the-cci-ig/#respond Sun, 14 Apr 2024 21:53:34 +0000 https://playeto.com/%f0%9f%8e%9e%ef%b8%8ftourism-plane-ticket-prices-communication-on-the-guadeloupe-destination-we-must-persevere-says-the-president-of-the-cci-ig/

Where is Guadeloupe in terms of tourist numbers? Is traveling to and from the archipelago easy, or even affordable? These are questions that we asked Patrick Vial-Collet, the president of the CCI IG. On the set of the Guadeloupe la 1ère television news, he returned to the cost of plane tickets and the local offer in terms of air desserts.

The health crisis is behind us. From now on, the world stage is getting back into place, on the tourist activity front. Destinations that were once shunned represent their place, among the areas to visit and with undeniable assets; this is particularly the case for Asia.

Guadeloupe, in comparison, is a “small market” here “holds up well”explains the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Islands of Guadeloupe (CCI IG).

Guadeloupe has 800,000 tourists, that’s not nothing. Before Covid, we set out to attract more than a million tourists ; we had reached it elsewhere, since it was 800,000 tourists, plus 300,000 cruise passengers. We must persevere and we must give ourselves more resources to be more offensive, particularly in North America.

Patrick Vial-Collet, president of the CCI IG

Encouraging travelers to come and discover the Guadeloupe destination is a question of communication, of offering air desserts, but also of cost, particularly plane tickets.

According to the digital platform Orchestra, dedicated to the tourism sector, reservations via travel agencies fell by 37%, to the detriment of the destination Guadeloupe, in March 2024.

A figure that the Guadeloupe Islands Tourism Committee (CTIG) would like to put into perspective.

The monthly barometer produced for Echo Touristique therefore counts sales of “packaged” trips and sales of dry flights, carried out mainly by physical travel agencies, with a selection of partners (…). The French prepare and book their vacations mainly online (…). The reputation of the “Islands of Guadeloupe” destination among the general public remains strong on the French market.

CTIG press release – 04/12/2024.

The CTIG wants this to prove the 2.84% increase in traffic at the “Guadeloupe – Pôle Caraibes” airport from France.
Attendance at the airport platform is, for the first quarter of 2024, stable compared to last year but, certainly, still well below the results before the health crisis linked to Covid-19.

READ ALSO : Guadeloupe Pôle Caraibes Airport: stable passenger traffic compared to last year, in the 1st quarter of 2024 – 04/14/2024.

Patrick Vial-Collet, president of the CCI IG, shares the opinion of the CTIG, regarding the figures released by Orchestra.

We need to temper the numbers. initially, these are not the arrivals, because otherwise we would not have had approximately the same number of passengers. These are the order intake, that is to say that in March, on sale in travel agencies, there was less than 40%. They were largely offset by direct sales.

Patrick Vial-Collet, president of the CCI IG

It is especially the post-second quarter which is to be feared, according to the president of the CCI IG, following the end of the high tourist season. The activity of professionals in the sector will be slowed down, in particular because of the increase in plane ticket prices and strong competition from Asia.

A problem comes up repeatedly: the prices of plane tickets. They are considered exorbitant by travelers, departing from and going to Guadeloupe, an island territory far from mainland France, which should have benefited from favorable measures, in the name of territorial continuity.
Regional flights are also impacted by inflation. How can we explain, for example, that a Pointe-à-Pitre/Santo Domingo ticket costs more than a Paris/Santo Domingo ticket?

At the risk of surprising you, I am going to take up the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, which said that tickets to the Antilles are, in terms of the kilometer transported, among the cheapest. North America is around 7 cts/km, we are at 5 cts/km, Africa is 9 cts/km. Simply, what happened? The kerosene exploded: more than double. The airlines do not have incredible results and the price increase has not made it possible to reap super profits. No not at all. An airline, if it makes 4 to 5% profit, that’s good. Understand me: for a plane ticket sold for €500, there is a profit of €20.

Patrick Vial-Collet, president of the CCI IG

Other”scoop” from the president of the CCI IG, which impacts travelers in the archipelago: kerosene costs 25% more in Guadeloupe, compared to the price in France.

For a very simple reason: we imposed a surcharge on kerosene here, to limit the increase in the price of vehicle fuel and we transferred to the airlines the additional cost and the increase in prices which should have been on the ‘car.

Patrick Vial-Collet, president of the CCI IG

Patrick Vial-Collet is also delighted with the expansion of St. Barth Executive’s activities. The airline based at Rémy de Haenen airport, in Saint Barthélémy, will offer regular connections between the northern community and Pointe-à-Pitre from tomorrow (Monday April 15, 2024), then to San Juan (Puerto Rico) starting May 16. Other rotations between the islands of the Lesser Antilles will subsequently be added to this operator’s flight plan.

This is a good thing. First of all, nature abhors a vacuum and it is true that the disappearance of Air Antilles left a big void and there was a cruel lack of aerial desserts. So, I can only welcome this arrival and the fact that there will be progressive reinforcements of air services to San Juan, to Saint-Barth… Guadeloupeans will be able to benefit from it.

Patrick Vial-Collet, president of the CCI IG

READ ALSO : AIR. St. Bart Executive opens regular lines depending from Saint-Barthélemy to Pointe-à-Pitre and San Juan – 04/13/2024.

It turns out that at present there is little provision in terms of air traffic between the islands of Guadeloupe and the rest of the Caribbean. You often have to make stopovers in San Juan, or even in Santo Domingo to reach certain destinations; frequent travel in these circumstances.

The company Air Antilles, subject to a sale of activity since September 2023, was trying to meet this challenge of connecting the territories of the area. But the buyer, the new company Air Antilles, is slow to take off.

When the time comes, when the offer is put in place, we will still have to encourage travelers to turn to Caribbean destinations. The challenge will then lie in the sustainability of their attendance.

Naturally, there is no traffic that is established. We must strengthen communication, to encourage exchanges of people, goods (that is to say economic), tourism, so that the Caribbean is better served. We suffer from it and we start a bit from scratch, unfortunately. The disappearance of Air Antilles means that it is a big step backwards.

Patrick Vial-Collet, president of the CCI IG

“Gin Panic”, when Great Britain descended into drunkenness https://playeto.com/gin-panic-when-great-britain-descended-into-drunkenness/ https://playeto.com/gin-panic-when-great-britain-descended-into-drunkenness/#respond Sun, 14 Apr 2024 21:47:42 +0000 https://playeto.com/gin-panic-when-great-britain-descended-into-drunkenness/

In the poor district of St. Giles, in London, passers-by have puffy faces and bad eyes. Their breath stinks of a mixture of strong alcohol and raw onions. Some have a damp handkerchief wrapped around their head – a thrifty cure for a hangover.

Where, a few years earlier, beer and wine were still kings on the streets, it is now gin that triumphs. Between 1720 and 1750, its consumption almost tripled. And it’s the poor who struggle.

Gin and brandy, enemy brothers

This alcoholic drink is nicknamed “Madame Genève” (the title of an excellent song by Mark Knopfler, which can serve as a soundtrack to this story). It was first made in Holland from fermented wine flavored with juniper berries that the United Provinces exploited in their Indonesian colonies. From there, the drink would have passed onto British tables thanks to William of Orange, former governor of the Dutch provinces crowned king of England in 1689.

Gin also owes its popularity to the rival from across the Channel. Because the English are rather accustomed to sipping French brandevin, a drink made from distilled wine which was considered at the time as a remedy, an elixir and an antiseptic (“it prolongs health, dissipates superfluous humors, revives the heart and preserves youth”pleads a 13th century French doctor).

However, the animosity between the two neighbors mired in the wars in Spain and then Austria led to a cutting off of trade. The absence of French brandy in the British Isles opened the opening for “eau de genius” that it had been waiting for.

“Distilleries have found a way to reach the palates of the poor […] so much so that the working classes do not seem to appreciate French brandy as usual”, testifies the novelist Daniel Defoe. From the 1720s, the consumption of grain alcohol became widespread in most industrial cities, exploding in the poverty-stricken areas of London. You can even distill it at home, in your bathtub.

Flooding

While traditional breweries are highly regulated by the public authorities, requiring, in addition to a license, that their owner regularly attend mass, gin stalls are open to all winds and do not require any permit. This trade is even boosted by the government, which makes a big profit by taxing it. In 1730, no less than 7,000 gin dealers filled the capital – more than one shop for every hundred inhabitants! And, at the time, we didn’t cut it with tonic…

This is the beginning of what we call “the gin madness” (gin craze) or “the gin panic” (gin panic). The drink flowed freely: 22 million liters of eau-de-vie were produced in 1734. It seems that, in working-class neighborhoods, it was sold out of wheelbarrows, with tipsy passers-by coming to get their drink!

The distilleries become considerably richer, as do the cereal growers who can resell their stocks of spoiled cereals at a high price. Those from the slums take the opportunity to forget their suffering for a few hours, their poor limbs damaged by industry, their bodies ravaged by malnutrition and disease.

We observe unexpected behaviors. Already, it’s not just the old drunks who are staggering on the filthy pavement, but also the women! The drink, nicknamed “Ladies’ delight” (“lady’s delight”) is served in elegant, more feminine tumblers rather than large, tacky tankards. Which does not help the health of young mothers, despite an infant mortality rate which peaked at 35% in the middle of the 18th century…

The excesses are, it seems, numerous. Cases of public nudity, but also drunken brawls, and even murders, are reported in the London newspapers. Moralists blame mothers whose morals have been corrupted by drink, forced into prostitution and syphilitic illness to get their fix. Of course, panic opens the way to fantasy and exaggeration: it is said that two shrews cooked in gin were victims of spectacular spontaneous combustion!

Gin in court

These excesses, mostly confined to the outskirts of London, led the Middlesex grand jury to be alarmed: “Most of London’s poverty, murder and robbery could be attributed to this cause alone.” The British Parliament eventually intervened, enacting several laws in the first half of the 18th century to stem this lucrative trade. The texts are easily circumvented by facetious resellers who distribute their gin under other names: “parliamentary brandy”, “colic water” etc.

In 1751, a tougher law was passed, increasing taxes on drink and introducing new legal obligations for distributors. This measure, combined with poor harvests and a general fall in wages, will restore some sobriety to 18th century England. Good news: once reserved for the elite, tea is becoming more economical and becoming more popular in salons and bars. Distilled cereals are replaced by innocent berries. Soon, the tea time supplant the gin craze.

Teleworking: this compulsory bonus for employees?

Teleworking allows employees to work without leaving their homes. But then, should they receive financial compensation?

For more than two years, teleworking has become democratized throughout the world. But then, could employees who work at home ask for money from their employer?

Teleworking, a way of life

Personal boundaries are essential to preserve our well-being, our self-esteem and to establish healthy relationships with others.

However, it is often difficult to defend them in the face of situations or individuals who transgress them.

Some people are particularly good at asserting their needs and values through a series of key behaviors.

These are behaviors that we can all learn and adopt to better assert ourselves and preserve our integrity.

We are going to reveal to you these seven behaviors that characterize those who defend themselves effectively when their limits are crossed.

1. Awareness of their own limits

The first step towards defending your limits is to become aware of them.

People who advocate for themselves effectively have a deep understanding of their own limitations, whether emotional, physical, or mental. They are able to identify and recognize them in different contexts and situations. This self-awareness allows them to better anticipate moments when their limits risk being exceeded and to put in place strategies to preserve them.

  • Self-awareness : To develop this awareness, it is essential to take the time to reflect on our needs, our values and our priorities. Self-assessment and introspection are valuable tools for knowing ourselves better and defining our limits.
  • The observation: Paying attention to our reactions to certain situations or people can help us better understand our limits. Signals of discomfort, stress or anger are often indicators that our boundaries are being violated.

2. Self-affirmation

Once our limits have been identified, it is crucial to know how to express them clearly and firmly.

People who effectively defend their boundaries are able to assert their needs without aggression or passivity. They use assertive and precise language to make others understand where their boundaries are and why it is important to respect them. To develop this skill, it is essential to work on our communication and our self-confidence.

  1. Nonviolent communication: This method of communication, developed by Marshall Rosenberg, allows us to express our needs and our limits in a clear and caring manner, without judging or accusing others.
  2. Self-confidence : Believing in our right to set limits and in our ability to defend them is essential to daring to express them. Self-confidence is built little by little, through practice and experience.

3. Managing emotions

Emotions play a central role in defending our limits.

Indeed, they are often the signal that our limits are being violated and they can influence the way in which we react to this transgression. People who are able to defend their boundaries know how to manage their emotions so that they are not overwhelmed by them and do not react impulsively or disproportionately. They are able to step back and analyze the situation rationally before deciding on the best way to act.

  • Emotional regulation: Learning to recognize, accept and express our emotions appropriately is essential to not letting ourselves be overwhelmed by them. Techniques like meditation, relaxation or breathing can help develop this skill.
  • Taking a step back: Becoming aware of our emotions and their impact on our reactions allows us to take a step back and adopt a more thoughtful and adapted attitude to situations where our limits are crossed.

4. Establishing consequences

In addition to clearly expressing their boundaries, people who stand up for themselves effectively are able to establish consequences for violating those boundaries.

This is a crucial step to make others understand that respecting our limits is non-negotiable and to strengthen the credibility of our approach. Consequences must be proportionate, realistic and consistent with our values and needs.

  1. The reflection : Before establishing consequences, it is essential to think about what actions we are willing to take if our boundaries are violated. These actions must be consistent with our values and our well-being.
  2. Communication : It is important to clearly inform the other person of the consequences we have decided and to explain to them the reasons for our choice. This helps strengthen the credibility of our approach and prevent possible misunderstandings.

5. Flexibility

Defending our limits should not be rigid and dogmatic.

People who defend themselves effectively know how to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in the face of complex or changing situations. They are capable of reviewing their limits if they realize that they are no longer adapted to their needs or their context. This flexibility allows them to avoid falling into rigid and authoritarian behaviors that risk hindering the quality of their relationships with others and harming their own well-being.

  • Open-mindedness : Being able to listen to the arguments and points of view of others is essential to reconsidering our boundaries when necessary. Dialogue and communication are at the heart of this approach.
  • Adaptability: Situations and contexts evolve, and our boundaries must sometimes adapt accordingly. Being able to recognize these changes and adjust our boundaries accordingly is an important skill for preserving our well-being and our relationships.

6. Respecting the boundaries of others

People who effectively defend their boundaries are able to respect those of others.

They understand that everyone has their own needs and values, and that taking them into account is essential to establishing healthy and balanced relationships. Respecting the limits of others is a guarantee of kindness and empathy, and promotes a climate of mutual trust.

  1. Empathy : Putting yourself in the other person’s shoes and understanding their needs and limits is essential to respecting them. Empathy helps strengthen the quality of our relationships and create a climate of trust and mutual respect.
  2. Communication : As with our own limits, it is important to know how to express and understand those of others. Dialogue and exchange are essential to establishing healthy and respectful relationships.

7. Perseverance

Finally, defending our limits requires perseverance and determination.

People who defend themselves effectively are able to maintain their position, even in the face of opposition or obstacles. They do not let themselves be discouraged by difficulties and continue to assert their needs and values, remaining faithful to their convictions.

  • Patience : Defending our boundaries can sometimes be a long and difficult process. It is essential to be patient and not get discouraged when faced with obstacles.
  • Resilience : People who defend themselves effectively are able to overcome difficulties and failures and turn them into learnings. Resilience is a key skill to persevere in defending our limits and preserving our well-being.

Defending our boundaries is a complex and multidimensional process that requires the implementation of several key skills and behaviors. People who defend themselves effectively when their boundaries are crossed demonstrate self-awareness, assertiveness, managing emotions, setting consequences, flexibility, respecting the boundaries of others, and perseverance. By developing these skills and adopting these behaviors, we can better assert ourselves, maintain our well-being and establish healthy and balanced relationships with others.
